IPTV on Samsung and LG smart TVs

No stick, no box: a player app from your TV's own store is enough for many Ontario living rooms.

Quick answer

Install an IPTV player such as IBO Player, Smart IPTV or SmartOne from the Samsung or LG app store, add your Xtream Codes login (or the M3U link if the app needs it), and restart the app. Some TV apps charge their own small activation fee after a trial; that goes to the app maker.

Step by step

Setting up your smart TV

  1. Open the TV app store

On Samsung, open Apps (Smart Hub). On LG, open the LG Content Store.

  2. Install an IPTV player

Search for an IPTV player that supports Xtream Codes or M3U, such as IBO Player, Smart IPTV or SmartOne.

  3. Note the device or MAC address

Many TV players show a MAC or device ID on first launch and ask you to add your playlist on the app maker's website. Any activation fee goes to that app maker.

  4. Add your login

Enter the Xtream Codes server, username and password from your email, or paste the M3U link if the app only accepts M3U.

  5. Restart the app

Close and reopen the app. Channels and the guide load in a few minutes.

Questions

Smart TV questions

Can I use IPTV directly on a Samsung or LG TV without a stick?

Yes, with a player app from the TV's app store. A Firestick or Android box is often faster and has more app choice, but the TV app works for many people.

Why does my TV app ask for a fee?

Some smart TV players charge a small one-time activation after their own trial. That fee goes to the app maker, not to us.

My TV is old and the app is slow. What can I do?

Older smart TVs struggle with very large channel lists. A Firestick or Android box plugged into HDMI fixes it; see the Firestick guide.
