Quick answer

On IPTV, hockey and other sports are shown on the Canadian, US and international sports channels in the lineup, with event channels for the biggest nights. Most games play in HD or Full HD, some in 4K. Expect a delay of a few seconds to about half a minute behind cable, and plan around 15 Mbps per screen for smooth Full HD.

Questions

Sports on IPTV: questions

Can I watch hockey on IPTV in Ontario?

Yes. Games are shown on the Canadian, US and international sports channels in the lineup, and big nights often have their own event channels. Check the TV guide in your app for the evening's games.

Is there a delay compared with cable?

Internet TV usually runs a few seconds to around half a minute behind cable. If you follow scores on your phone, turn off notifications during the game to avoid spoilers.

What about baseball, basketball and football?

Baseball, basketball, NFL and CFL football, soccer, UFC and boxing are on the sports channels in the lineup when they air them, many in Full HD.

What internet speed do I need for sports?

About 15 Mbps per screen for Full HD and 25 Mbps for 4K, measured in the evening. More in the internet speed guide.

Why does a game sometimes buffer?

Most often weak Wi-Fi to the TV, a VPN or a busy home network during big games. Use Ethernet if you can, and press "It does not work" in your email for a backup server. See IPTV not working.
